A unique service we are pleased to offer here at Embrace Family Smiles is our Kid’s Club Program, at both our Woodbridge and Burke, VA offices. This is FREE to all families with kids getting ready for braces. This program allows us to meet with you and your child, and x-ray, scan and monitor them as their mouth is growing and developing. With this initial information, we can evaluate the best time to plan and begin orthodontic care with braces, space maintainers, or perhaps other dental appliances if needed.
The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) recommends that children receive an orthodontic consultation by age 7 (https://aaoinfo.org/whats-trending/when-should-your-child-see-an-orthodontist/) to establish a baseline evaluation in order to catch any conditions that may require treatment. Our board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Roger Hennigh, follows your child’s dental growth and development every six to twelve months as part of this program intending to ensure that your child reaches adulthood with an ideal bite and smile, whether they need braces or not.
At the various Growth Check appointments over the monitoring period, we may or may not take x-rays or digital scans depending on what has changed since the last visit. Dr. Hennigh will continue to discuss with the parents what the recommended course of action will be as your child grows and when the best time would be appropriate to start orthodontic care.
