Roger Hennigh grew up in Springfield, Virginia and went to West Springfield High School. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1992, and finished 3rd in his class at The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1996. He has a unique perspective on dentistry, having been a patient at our Burke office for pediatric and orthodontic care during his formative years in Springfield back in the 1980s.
He then took additional training at Penn as a resident in General Dentistry before practicing as a dentist at The Watergate Dental Associates in Washington, DC from 1998 to 2003. Fun Fact: During his Junior and Senior years at West Springfield High School, he had the enjoyable responsibility of being the school’s spirited mascot, known affectionately as the “Spartan Spirit Chicken” .
Dr. Hennigh recognized that he would like to move on from General Dentistry and specialize in Orthodontics. He left the Watergate and worked as a civilian dentist with The U.S. Army in Germany while preparing applications for Orthodontic programs. In July of 2005 he began studies in Orthodontics at The Eastman Dental Center at The University of Rochester.
The program was two years in length, very demanding, highly rewarding, and at its conclusion Dr. Hennigh had earned certification by the American Board of Orthodontics as a Diplomate. He began practicing with Golden Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics in the summer of 2007, and enjoyed the multi modality practice environment Dr. Golden fostered until his retirement in July 2022.
Most orthodontists practice either solo, or in a larger group orthodontic practice. At Embrace Family Smiles (formerly Golden Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics), pediatric dental and orthodontic services are available at our Woodbridge and Burke locations, while General Dentistry is available at our Dale City office.
Having been an adolescent orthodontic patient himself, he can personally attest to the oral health, and psycho-social advantages derived from a harmonious bite and attractive smile. He welcomes the opportunity to help children, adolescents, and adults realize these benefits, and he believes that the results can have positive, life-lasting consequences as he has seen in his own experience.
Dr. Hennigh is currently a member of the following organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Southern Association of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
- Virginia Dental Association
- Northern Virginia Dental Society
Dr. Hennigh is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. As a Diplomate, Dr. Hennigh passed a rigorous clinical and oral testing process administered by his peers in the American Board of Orthodontics.
